Look back at the adverts you have been analysing in  last week's lessons on Reading an Image and media codes  (RBK 50 Cent and one of your choice).  1) What are the preferred, negotiated and opposition readings for the RBK 50 Cent advert? -P referred-the producer wants the audience to feel bad for him because of his past with gun  violence and that 50 cent feels a sense of remorse for getting involved in that type of setting that lead to him being shot 9 times. -Negotiated-some audiences may have a bias toward 50 cent and therefore judge him for getting shot and may even blame  him. -Opposition-some audience that see this advert may not be familiar with 50 cent because they don't listen to rap music and therefore wont be affect by the producers intention behind putting him in the advert. Some audience may take the fact that Reebok is putting 50 cent on the advert as a way of them promoting gun violence or agreeing with the gang culture. 2)  What are the preferred, negotiated an

genre

1) What example is provided of why visual iconographies are so important? -Film westerns will share codes and conventions with TV westerns. 2) What examples are provided of the importance of narrative in identifying genre? - Someone sitting behind a desk is not genre  specific. However, add high key lighting, a modern mise-en-scene  and a screen behind the character at the desk and the combination  of media language choices creates an image we associate with a  news broadcast. 3) What is the difference between character representation in action movies and disaster movies? - Characters, including the use of stereotypes and character roles, are also part of the narrative of texts. Certain stereotypes tend to be linked to specific genres. The ’lone wolf’ hero, for example is a convention of an action text. 4) What are the different ways films can be categorised according to Bordwell?  -Period or Country -Director / Star -Technical Process, -Style -Series -Audience 5) List three ways genre

1) Give an example from film or television that uses Todorov's narrative structure of equilibrium, disequilibrium and new equilibrium.  -The notebook:         -equilibrium: at the start Allie has a peaceful life.          -dis equilibrium: Allie meets Noah, who she falls in love with and he is poor and her family                         doesn't accept of their  relationship         -new  equilibrium: Noah works hard to build a house for them and they get married and have                     children and die of old age  together. 2) Complete the activity on page 1 of the Factsheet: find a  clip  on YouTube of the opening of a new TV drama series (season 1, episode 1). Embed the clip in your blog and write an analysis of the narrative markers that help establish setting, character and plot. The First Scene Ever | Brooklyn Nine-Nine - YouTube   -The first 30 seconds of this scenes makes us think that this is a heavy crime drama with a main lead who is a detective who has been work

' Read ing an image - media codes '. 1) Analyse this RBK 50 Cent advert using the media codes you learned in the lesson:  Technical, Written or verbal, Symbolic or non-verbal, Narrative.  -50 cent is keeping strong eye contact which makes him have a serious face therefore meaning that the advert may be getting across a strong message as well. -Lighting is dark which could mean that the focus is meant to be on him and only him, the audience should be intrigued to look at him first. -He is wearing a chain which implies some sort of wealth. -The colour codes of white and black could mean a flashback. His past is always with him and he is always reminded of it. -The placement of 50 cent on one side and the writing on another shows that his past and present both are the reason he is the person he is and his past will always be with him no matter what. -The typography also show his past will always be with him the o's being coloured in show bullets that he was shot with in the p
